Your doctor sounds a bit of a nut.
That lemon detox diet is awful, the body is self detoxing to start with. The colon is self cleansing too.
The lemon diet - or Maste Cleanse as they call it...
Liquid bowel movements are a messy side effect. Going 10 days without food, plus consuming only a minimal amount of nutrients (given the drink’s ingredients) can add unnecessary stress on the body and potentially put health at risk. Trying to stick to the estimated 650-calorie-a-day diet (compared to the normal recommended amount of 1,600 to 2,400 calories a day) can result in feeling constantly hungry. Once dieters resume their normal eating habits, the weight lost will likely be regained.

Anyone interested in detoxifying their body might think about paying a little more attention to their body and less attention to the people trying to get their money. The body already has nature's most effective detoxification system. It's called the liver. The liver changes the chemical structure of foreign compounds so they can be filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, which then excrete them in the urine.

I think I would look for a different doctor.
EDIT
The site on that link looks like a load of codswallop, it boils down to eating a sensible diet. Ffor hormone imbalance you need to see an endocrinologist.

Oh my goodness, that is a lot of money. Please don't buy into it.

I read and read about cleansing my body, ridding toxins, and starting over basically. I found something called the Master Cleanse and the mixture sure sounds a lot like what you were told but you don't buy anything (except motivational books if you are having a hard time), you make it yourself and just literally not eat for 10 days. Of course people have a seriously hard time doing it and the first three days are the worst, but if you are dedicated and don't fall off the wagon, then you can do it. The way people try to make money on this is that they try to sell motivational books/dvds to help you keep focused. But again, you don't need it.

The recipe is--

* 10 oz of filtered water
* 1/10 Teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
* 2 Tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup
* 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice

That recipe is for a single serving of lemonade, and you should drink 6-12 servings a day. You can also make up a big batch by multiplying that recipe by however many servings you plan on drinking which is what I like to do. Just make sure you keep it refrigerated, and don't make more then one days supply because you want the lemonade to be as fresh as possible when you drink it.

Follow that recipe exactly for 10 days. Do not eat. If you absolutely cannot do it and need to have a little food, eat a tablespoon of cottage cheese a couple times a day, or eat a slice of turkey. No bread, carbs, soda, etc. etc. etc. The recipe should curb your appetite to the best of its ability, so I wish you the best of luck.

Please remember to try get at least 30 minutes of exercise in every day. This will help burn fat and boost your metabolism.

Good luck to you.
