Right amount of cardio for weight loss?
I’m (female) 5’3, 21 yrs old, and usually around 125 lbs. Recently, just under a year, my metabolism changed and I gained around 30-35 pounds, with nothing in my diet and activity level changing during that period. I would really like to lose the extra weight, and possibly a couple more, while toning up quite a bit. I’ve been attending gym classes (like step, yoga, pilates, core, etc.) 5 days a week, each about an hour long. My diet has changed as I’ve cut out all meat (except seafood), sodas, fried foods, and sweets. I drink mostly water, and I don’t smoke or consume alcohol. I would like to lose about 35-40 pounds by June 1. Do I need to be doing more cardio? I also do a bit of weight training 3-4 times a week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

According to what you have written, you have gained weight very fast and hence it can not solely be because of metabolic rate. The metabolic rate slows down at a slower pace and hence you tend to put on weight over a longer period. This is therefore not only this problem.
Answer yourself these questions and you may find the answer in these:-
1. Have you increased your weight training.
2. Which part of your body has gained maximum change.
3. Are there too many changes in the daily schedule specially in ti mining of taking your breakfast, lunch and dinner.
An advice
Don’t cut on or skip meals as weight ,lost by this way is always temporary and you will gain weight again.
Try knowing metabolic rate points on your hand that is acupressure. It helps a lot. walk on Acupressure mat for 5 min in the morning and 5 min in the evening.
If the area you have but on weight is hips or waist, do more exercise to keep these muscles tight .
all the best
Gaining 30 pounds without changing your diet or activity level is cause for concern. You should see a doctor just to make sure nothing is wrong. An hour of cardio is a good amount to shoot for.
