Since food is becoming so expensive, will more Americans start vegetable gardening and canning their own food?

Out at Two Rivers Park they actually have public land staked out for gardens… people have them planted everywhere! My family has always had a garden growing up… but they have expanded it now that both of my parents have retired.. instead of a little thing.. we have 3 massive gardens.
Can’t beat the food picked there.. and yes, I do think we’ll see more and more of this.
I think it’s better to do that anyways. The FDA is so messed up anyways, most of the food you buy and eat (especially fruits and vegetables) have pesticides, chemicals, and other harmful pathogens that dwell within the produce. And of course, it’s cheaper. Only downside is, if your crop or garden spoils, you got to have a backup plan or frozen food from last year.
I planted on this year! Not just cuz of the food costs, but wanted more natural organic veggies.
Many people do not have that option, especially those who live in high-rise apartments in the middle of city centers where space is limited. For them, one other option I’ve heard about recently is vertical farming. The concept of building large energy-efficient structures within urban centers to feed most of (if not all) the population will make cities more self-sufficient as to no longer rely on imported food products. It would also cut down greatly on freshwater usage and agricultural runoff.
If they have land and are motivated enough.
What do you mean start? We have been growing vegetables in our garden and canning them for years.
On the radio today, I heared that lots of people are having food stolen that they are growing in their allotments. I didn’t think things were *that* bad yet!
Only people who thought of it before food prices went up.
Listen, we are lazy Americans. In the grocery store parking lot yesterday, I saw 3 people sitting in their SUV’s with the engine running while someone was running in to pick up a few things. I wanted to knock on the window and ask them what gas prices would have to get to before they would make even a little effort to conserve fuel.
