What is the right number of calories for me?

Like most males my age, I feel I need to gain muscle and work to have more visible abs (it’s not like I show them to anyone, I just like being thin). I already have a fairly balanced workout routing consisting of strength training and cardio, but I am not sure as to how many calories I will need to see a maximized effect. The workouts are split up into four sets, and total a span of about two hours daily. Here’s some background information. I was formerly on a weight loss diet, eating 1800 calories a day. Hence reaching my desired body fat percentage and picking up strength training, I have slowly began consuming more calories without losing the visibility of my abs. Right now I take in 2300 and am wondering how far I might be able to go. I’m 17, 5’9, 147 lbs. Any past experiences would help me greatly, any results other’s may have seen would be very useful. I would rather read about first-hand experiences than look it up on an online calculator. I would appreciate some help (except for those darn "copy and paste" answers telling me to visit some weight loss website)!

Should I alter my routine at all?

I haven’t actually started it yet, but here it is:

Everyday: Walk (As I get into better shape I will be walking/running then just running).

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: Go to the gym and use a stationary bike at my target heart rate for AT LEAST 20 minutes (I will go for as long as possible).

Wednesday and Sunday: REST (From cardio except walking and running when I get to that point).

Every Other Day: Push ups and Sit ups

I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and weigh 350ish pounds. I am 41.6% body fat. Right now I am just focused on losing the weight (and not gaining any so I do not want to be doing weight lifting right now). Does this seem good for now? Once I start to see less progress with the weight loss (I expect to see a lot of change within the first few months) I will add in some weight training a few times per week.

OR

Do you think I should do that routine but with weight training and just use measurements to track my progress instead of weight (since I will be gaining muscle as well….I wanted to just use weight as my progress but if I need to do weight training too to lose more body fat then I will)? (The measurements I plan to use is my neck and waist measurements and put those into a body fat calculator….I know it isn’t the most accurate method but it is all I have available to me without going to see a Professional every month to have it checked).

I have been working at home on my abs for a month in a half, im starting to see some difference on the top part of the abs but the bottom part are showing no tone. I have been eating right lots of protein and water, and cardio once a day. My work out consists of about 100 crunches a day for 5 days and 50 sit ups. What kind of work out can i do at home to work the bottom part of the abs. There has to be something to focus on the bottom part and i know somebody had the right answer.

Should you do both cardio and weights each workout? And which should be done first, cardio or weights?

I’ve read about the post-workout nutrition, so I know what I’m supposed to eat. But I couldn’t find anything about what you should do after a workout. Should you do some light cardio? Or just take it easy for awhile? I don’t really have a set routine for after my workouts. Should I be lying down for awhile to rest your muscles? Or is it better to be active to keep your blood flowing so that the protein and carbs can circulate through your body?

I am 20, 143 lbs, and 5’4. I had a baby six months ago so I have quite a bit of extra tummy fat and large love handles. How long will it take to loose my love handles and tummy fat if I am doing 40 minutes of cardio and 50 side crutches, on each side, to strengthen my obliques?

hi there
im a 22 year old female who was approx 3 stone overweight, for the last 9 weeks ive been on a 1200 calorie a day diet, i eat lots of veg, fruit and protein with some carbohydrate and dairy. i do 10000 steps a day, plus 3 days of exercise combining cardio and weight training for an hour and a half.

In the first month i lost 7 pounds, so i was happy my diet was working but for the last 5 weeks i have stayed exactly the same. Im not sure what im doing wrong, im sure it cannot be a weight loss plateau because i have only lost a small amount of weight and it has only been a month.according to internet calculators i need to eat between 1990-2160 calories to maintain my weight.

I still have 2.5 stone more to lose and i feel frustrated and disheartened!!
If anyone has had similar problems or an answer to my question i would be very grateful!

if there are any dieticians or nutritionists who read this i would very much like your input.

thanks
