what does it mean if ur losing weight rapidly without trying?

A family member he is a man in his 40′s is losing weight rapidly he said his elderly mom could pick him up. He’s not even trying to lose weight. He hasn’t gone to the doctor yet, he’s scared.

AIDS

Diarrhea that is chronic (lasts a long time)

Eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia
Hyperthyroidism

Painful mouth sores, mouth braces, or a loss of teeth that prevent you from eating normally
