Which is more effective for weight loss, Yoga or Pilates?
I am looking for a good idea for a cardio workout. I’ve tried bellydancing and salsa dancing and I enjoy both. Just for a change though I wanted to try pilates or yoga. I’ll probably start with a work out video before I decide on doing classes.
Which is more effective and if you know of any specific videos to try (just to start with, and chances are I can handle an intermediate or advanced one -I’m pretty flexible and toned)

I’m not trying to lose weight on this just something fun to change up my workout routine. I spend about an hour a day on the treadmill or outside, jogging or powerwalking

Pilates in my opinion will help burn more calories as it involves more quick movement and breathing than yoga. I would go to the library and get a DVD there (it’s free) to check out different teachers.

I believe pilates has a faster effect but yoga relaxes you, you probably use less equipment. i would probably do both, 3 times a week. First yoga to strech n relax, then pilates to sweat n stuff, or vise versa
pilates and yoga are more towards stretching,resistance and toning…they dont cardio at all,but rhythmizing of breath will increase blood flow to problem areas to accelerate fat burning..i suggest that you brisk walk 30-40 mins daily in addition to a strict portion controlled diet to get more results to your cardio and pilates workouts…do both of each about 2 or 3 times a weekminimal of 30 mins each…
